Articles

Nick Krichevsky explains how Discord added distributed tracing to their Elixir stack. Since Elixir's message passing has no built-in metadata layer, they built "Transport", a library that wraps messages in Envelopes to propagate trace context, and how they handled the challenge of massive fanouts without blowing up span volume.

Mike Hostetler announces Jido 2.0, an agent framework for the BEAM. This version brings simpler APIs, a pure functional agent core, AI reasoning strategies (ReAct, CoT, and more), and a growing ecosystem including first-class Ash support.

Eyal Lapid introduces Fusion, a library that lets you run Elixir code on any remote server over SSH, with no deployment pipeline. In this 3-part series, he covers how to use it, how the SSH tunneling and Erlang distribution work, and how it ships your compiled bytecode to the remote node.

Daniil Popov was running a Phoenix LiveView app that worked great on desktop, but iPhone users kept reporting frozen pages after switching apps or unlocking their phone. Here's what was actually happening and how he fixed it.

Petros Amoiridis shares his experience using Tidewave with Claude Code to upgrade a Phoenix app from 1.7.21 to 1.8.3. He walks through his strategy of feeding diffs from phoenixdiff.org, the hiccups he ran into, and what he'd do differently next time.
